for all your help this year!!!
Because You're Special
--(Author Unknown)

We sometimes take for granted
In the rush of all we do,
And forget to say a special thanks
To volunteers like you!

So we send this note to tell you
How much all you do means,
Your gifts of time and of yourself
Are special ones indeed.

To our wonderful Room 14 parent helpers

You are kindly invited to a Morning Tea

to acknowledge and thank you for your time this year.

Hi everyone

We have had a very busy couple of weeks and it is almost half way through the term already!

This week we have been writing instructions, including instructions in maths to include position and direction.  We are still collecting materials for our Flying Foxes - construction day is next Tuesday, so please check with your child, that they have collected materials and have brought, or will bring in on Monday, the materials they need.  There are about 6 children who have not brought in yet.

Athletics Day - This Monday!

The children have been practising hard so it is going to be a great day!  Please ensure your child comes to school with:

Hat, Sunblock and a named Drink bottle.

They should be wearing suitable clothing - no singlets please, and if possible, in their house colours.

Thanks to those of you that have offered to help !

Have a nice weekend everyone

Mrs Scanlan

To Parents

4 November 2015

Dear Parents and Caregivers

This week Room 14 has been developing their own criteria, sketching Concept drawings and planning to build models of a Flying Fox for our Technology Unit.

The children have developed a materials list so that they can begin to gather materials they may need.  They have had some amazing ideas around what they could use!  I am hoping that the children will have their materials collected and at school by next Monday.

Please support them by discussing their ideas with them and helping them to find solutions for some of their ideas.  Each child will need a box to create their model in.   Something not much bigger than a shoe box would be ideal.  Your recycle bin may be a good source of materials.  Some children have planned to use pieces of wood, they will need to bring them the right size as we don’t have access to any tools.

Available at school will be all glue, sellotape etc, and I will have a few boxes and bits and pieces.  I will also supply string for the zip line although some children have had other ideas!

Thank you for your support

Term 4 Week 2

Congratulations to Anton for receiving the learning certificate this week!

This week we have learnt about angles.  There are four angles; right angle, straight angle, acute angle and obtuse angle.  A right angle is 90 degrees, a straight angle is 180 degrees, an acute angle is less than 90 degrees and an obtuse angle is wider than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.  We have also been learning about persuasive writing.  We learnt that you need to have 5 paragraphs including a conclusion and an introductions.  You must have at least three reasons.

Please visit the Home Learning page for more information about how spelling works if your child has brought home a list today!

Have a lovely long weekend - see you on Tuesday!

Thanks

Term 4 Week 1

Congratulations to Amelia for receiving the Character Certificate this week

This term we are looking forward to Athletics and Natural Disasters.  Also we are doing ICT instead of Music and we are making our own blogs.  The Writing we are focusing on this term is Persuasive Writing.  We are going to try and persuade Mr Marwick to get the school a Flying Fox!  Mrs Scanlan is teaching us about a Growth mindset versus a Fixed Mindset.  For example, I give up (Fixed mindset) or this may take some time and effort (Growth).  In Art today we did Monoprinting.  Monoprinting means a print that only happens once.

Plays Week 10 Term 3

We have been learning how to present a play to entertain an audience this week.  We had to organise the play ourselves and make sure we all got a part.  We had to organised props and make anything that we needed.  We really had to focus on making sure we could be understood when we delivered our lines by speaking clearly and loudly enough. Check back for the videos of our plays soon.

Maidmashers - Too Many Mangos
Snozcumbers - Fearless

Frobscottles - I Want to be Zippy
